Paul and Angel
The recent death of Paul Harvey prompted local photo historian guru Stan Cohen to shuffle through his files to come up with this shot of Harvey, then known as Paul Aurendt, and his young bride, Angel, during their year’s stay in Missoula, where he worked for A.J. “Art” Mosby at KGVO Radio.
According to a Missoulian story by Bill Schwanke on March 3, Radio icon fired from first job in Missoula, Mosby’s daughter Mary Jane was working at KGVO as receptionist and traffic coordinator when Harvey/Aurendt came to town. She once told Bill Knowles, University of Montana professor emeritus of radio/television, who is writing a book about pioneers in Montana broadcast, that she “vividly remembered the tall man from Tulsa and his new wife” and that she remembered the newlyweds “constantly smooching” when they were together.
If you get a chance, Listen to Paul Harvey’s 80th birthday tribute to A.J. Mosby of Missoula.
